I think everyone who respects Light must be crazy, ‘cos he must be modeled on the Nazi’s or something. He basically kills everyone in his way – all the dissonent voices and inconveniences, ’til no-one opposed him… so that he could rule the ‘new world’.  That sounds a lot like the ‘Third Reich’ that Hitler invisioned.
